Exploring ice!
The nursery children arrived to class to see some of the artic animals, that we had been talking about, stuck in the ice! How will we save them?
Lots of lovely discussion and ideas. The children chose different tools to try and break the ice, paint, coloured water and after trying for a while and noticing it was melting slowly, we talked about how it felt in the room, was the temperature cold or was it warm, a few children said, it needs to be warm to melt! Warm water was then used to free the animals!
We have enjoyed some super frosty mornings out and about. The children were so excited to see everything white! Off we went on an ice hunt. Who could find the biggest piece of ice? So much conversation discussing how it felt on our hands, the size, shape and different patterns we could see. The children loved working together to free huge bits of ice from the tyres.

Lots of Christmas fun! Everyone had great fun decorating the Christmas tree. We sorted the decorations into groups by colour and then worked as a team to decorate the tree!
We have created beautiful Christmas cards, the children chose between a reindeer, snowman or Christmas tree footprint cards to send home to their families. Lots of tickly feet!
We have been looking at repeating patterns inside and outside too, we then learnt how to make repeating pattern paper chains ourselves! We put them altogether, it was longer than the classroom!
Following instructions we helped to measure with cups and make salt dough, we rolled out the dough and used Christmas cutters to make decorations to take home. When they were dry we painted them carefully and sprinkled with glitter!

The children had a job to peel and chop the vegetables (with some help!) ready to go into the soup maker the next day.

Everyone helped to put everything into the soup maker, Miss Guerra poured in the hot stock and while it was cooking we went out to explore the frost and ice. We returned to a yummy smelling nursery and all sat around the autumn table to enjoy warm soup and bread together

One of the children mentioned they liked soup and bread so we decided to make vegetable soup!

More autumn fun, exploring and playing with different vegetables, learning their names, talking about how and where they grow. Using language to discuss, colour, size, what they felt like, if they were soft or hard and smelling them!

So much autumn fun, out and about playing in the fallen leaves, jumping rolling, throwing and also sliding into them! Great fun!

We have also collected our favourite leaves to make beautiful leaf strings, using our fine motor skills to thread each leaf on. Everyone did a wonderful job!

What a busy week back after half term, with lots of fun activities!

Nursery have been learning about Diwali and exploring light, Indian music and dance. We explored playing with clay and then made beautiful diva lamps, we all decorated them so beautiful with paint and glitter!

We have been talking about bonfire night and keeping safe. We made some delicious edible sparklers by melting chocolate, dipping in breadsticks and rolling them in sprinkles.Â
Out on our wellie walks we gathered lots of twigs and bright red leaves that had fallen on the ground to create lovely bonfire collage pictures!

Nursery have been out exploring autumn in the school grounds. Lots of fun splashing in puddles and also enjoying our book 'Owl babies' , under the big oak tree!

We have been busy cooking hedgehog bread ! The children mixed the bread mix with a spoon and kneaded the dough with their fists. We put the dough in a warm place and waited for it to rise and they were amazed at how much it had grown, it was time to shape their ball of dough into a lovely hedgehog and give it spikes and eyes! It smelt delicious cooking in the oven!
We are having lots of fun in nursery playing with the pumpkins, comparing sizes and weight and scooping out the inside!
