Dosbarth Cardiff

Spring Term 1

During our Jigsaw lesson Mrs McCormick gave us a challenge. Can we work as a team to produce a garden for our dream birds? Some of us found this tricky as we didn’t want to compromise on our ideas! Here they are!

In our topic, Tegannau we learnt about how children use to make their own toys a long time ago. We made wooden spoon puppets and described their clothes using our Welsh. Da iawn pawb!

We have been learning about weaving. First, we made a loom frame with sticks, elastic bands and string. This was quite tricky as the frame kept moving and we had to learn to tie a knot. Then we went outside to cut natural things and weaved them in the loom frame using an over and under technique.

Autumn Term 2

As part of National Bird Day we explored the school grounds and spotted a Blackbird and Wood Pigeon.

To begin our new theme, "Tegannau" we brought in our favourite toys from home. We talked about why they were our favourite and let others play with them too.
Enterprise Week

Dosbarth Cardiff chose to make Christmas Tree Decorations for the Frost Fayre.

We cut Dogwood with secateurs from our school grounds.

We used the secateurs to cut it into different sizes and made a tree shape.

This is what they ended up like! We sold them for £2 each at the Frost Fayre.

We used watercolour to respond to the book, “Where Poppies now grow.”

We caught the Bus to Newport Market!

We had a walk around the market.

We had great fun in Jungle Play

Making Rangoli Patterns to celebrate Diwali

Here are Dosbarth Cardiff doing a fabulous retell of the Three Little Pigs
We had a lovely walk around our community looking at how the buildings are used.

Building a brick wall just like the 3rd Little Pig!

Harvest Festival
We enjoyed listening to the Parable of the Lost Sheep and thought about its real meaning that we all belong and God loves everyone.
